Community Edition and the Developer SDK are provided without charge, but they are proprietary software and are subject to applicable license terms. You are responsible for validating your integrations, protecting your data, and deciding whether FireSonic is suitable for your environment.
1. Acceptance
These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to your use of firesonic.io, FireSonic documentation, download services, Community Edition, the Developer SDK, examples, and other materials made available by FireSonic, unless a separate written agreement applies.
By submitting a download request, downloading, installing, or using FireSonic software, you agree to these Terms and to the applicable software license. If you do not agree, do not download, install, or use the software.
2. Software and license terms
FireSonic Community Edition and the FireSonic Developer SDK are proprietary software. Availability at no charge does not make the software open source and does not grant access to FireSonic source code.
Your right to install and use a FireSonic package is governed by the license applicable to that package. See the Licenses page and any license included with or delivered for the software.
If a package-specific license or a separate commercial agreement conflicts with these Terms on software-use rights, the package-specific license or separate agreement controls for that subject.
3. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for how you configure, test, deploy, operate, and monitor FireSonic in your environment. This includes responsibility for:
- testing HL7 → FHIR mappings and project-specific logic before production use;
- validating generated FHIR data and downstream behavior;
- maintaining appropriate backups, recovery procedures, and operational monitoring;
- protecting credentials, encryption keys, certificates, configuration, and access to administration interfaces;
- using appropriate network, operating-system, storage, and infrastructure security controls;
- complying with healthcare, privacy, security, record-retention, and other laws that apply to your organization;
- obtaining any permissions needed to process or transmit data through your deployment.
Documentation, examples, mappings, semantic rules, and sample code are starting points. They must be reviewed and tested for the requirements of your own environment.
4. Healthcare and clinical use
FireSonic is interoperability software. It does not provide medical advice and does not replace clinical judgment, source-system controls, or an organization's responsibility to validate healthcare data and workflows.
A technically valid HL7 or FHIR message can still be clinically or operationally incorrect. You are responsible for validating identifiers, terminology, resource relationships, workflow rules, and any other behavior that may affect patient or clinical data.
5. Website, documentation, and service availability
We may change, update, suspend, or discontinue website features, download mechanisms, Community Edition capabilities, SDK capabilities, documentation, or no-charge services. We may also introduce reasonable technical limits, security controls, or abuse-prevention measures.
We try to keep documentation accurate and useful, but documentation may contain errors or may not describe every environment, dependency, or edge case.
6. Third-party software and services
FireSonic may depend on or interoperate with third-party software, libraries, operating systems, databases, FHIR servers, infrastructure, and services. Third-party components may have their own licenses and terms.
FireSonic is not responsible for the availability, security, behavior, or changes of third-party products or services that you choose to use with FireSonic.
7. Intellectual property
Except for third-party components and materials identified as having separate licenses, FireSonic software, documentation, website content, branding, and related materials are owned by or licensed to FireSonic and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
No rights are granted except those expressly stated in the applicable license or separate written agreement. FireSonic names, logos, and branding may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement, ownership, or affiliation without permission.
8. Feedback and contributions
You may send feedback, bug reports, ideas, examples, or contributions. Unless a separate contribution agreement or repository license says otherwise, you give FireSonic permission to use feedback about the product without restriction or payment to improve FireSonic.
9. No warranty
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE FIRESONIC WEBSITE, COMMUNITY EDITION, DEVELOPER SDK, DOCUMENTATION, EXAMPLES, DOWNLOADS, AND RELATED MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
Without limiting the above, FireSonic disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, error-free operation, and uninterrupted operation to the extent those warranties may legally be disclaimed.
FireSonic does not warrant that a generated FHIR resource, mapping, transformation, semantic rule, integration workflow, or delivery result is clinically correct, complete, or suitable for a particular healthcare environment.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FIRESONIC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OR CORRUPTION OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, SAVINGS, BUSINESS, OPPORTUNITY, OR GOODWILL, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, DOWNTIME, OR COSTS OF REPLACEMENT SERVICES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE WEBSITE, COMMUNITY EDITION, DEVELOPER SDK, DOCUMENTATION, OR THEIR USE.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory and even if FireSonic has been advised that such loss or damage may occur.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FireSonic's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to a no-charge FireSonic product is limited to the amount you paid directly to FireSonic for that product during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Because Community Edition and the Developer SDK are currently provided without charge, that amount may be zero. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
11. Suspension and termination
We may restrict access to download or online services where reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, violation of these Terms, or protection of FireSonic systems. Software-use rights may also terminate as described in the applicable license.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as FireSonic evolves. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Continued use after an updated version becomes effective is subject to the updated Terms where permitted by law.
13. Applicable law
These Terms are subject to applicable law. Nothing in these Terms removes rights or obligations that cannot be excluded, waived, or limited under mandatory law. A separate license or commercial agreement may specify additional governing-law or dispute terms.
14. Contact
